Adams Fiber Expands Smart Rural Community Recognition to Lima and Plymouth

Adams Fiber is proud to announce that two more communities in its service area—Lima, Illinois and Plymouth, Illinois—have officially been designated as Smart Rural Communities (SRCs) by NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association.

The SRC designation is a national recognition program that highlights rural towns and villages where advanced broadband networks and innovative community partnerships drive economic growth, educational opportunities, and improved quality of life. With Lima and Plymouth now added, Adams Fiber has expanded the footprint of SRC communities across west-central Illinois, ensuring even more residents and businesses benefit from world-class fiber connectivity.

Adams Fiber has made significant investments to deliver this connectivity, with over $841,000 invested in fiber infrastructure in Plymouth and more than $502,800 invested in Lima. These investments reflect Adams Fiber’s long-term commitment to strengthening local economies and enhancing opportunities for families, schools, and businesses.

“Connectivity is more than just fast internet—it’s about opportunity,” said Bridgette Northern, Director of Marketing at Adams Fiber. “Designating Lima and Plymouth as Smart Rural Communities reinforces our commitment to empowering local families, farmers, schools, and businesses with the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.”

Through fiber broadband, residents of Lima and Plymouth now have access to reliable, high-speed internet that supports:

  • Education – giving students access to virtual learning and global resources.
  • Healthcare – enabling telehealth services and remote patient care.
  • Business growth – supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs with the connectivity needed to compete locally and globally.
  • Quality of life – ensuring families can enjoy streaming, gaming, and smart home technologies seamlessly.

Adams Fiber has already connected multiple Smart Rural Communities across its footprint, and the addition of Lima and Plymouth further expands the recognition of communities benefiting from advanced fiber broadband. To learn more, visit www.smartruralcommunity.org.
