Internet
Fiber optic is the fastest internet option available; it is not shared and provides far greater speeds to enhance your experience. If you use the Internet in any way and have the opportunity to sign up for fiber, you should! You will not be disappointed.
Customers who have switched to Adams Fiber from other providers are reporting they have been able to keep their @comcast.net and @att.net email addresses.

Television
No, but we will help you find and install the right streaming service for you. Contact us to learn about streaming TV options!
Streaming TV allows viewers to select services with content that is more aligned with their viewing habits. Rather than being charged for dozens of pre-selected traditional TV channels – many of which viewers never watch — streaming TV services offer more streamlined, select programming. Vendors such as YouTube TV, Hulu, Netflix, Sling TV, FuboTV, and others offer their own unique viewing options, including programming developed specifically for that service. These subscriptions are often priced far less than traditional TV packages.
Viewers can review these streaming TV services and select the vendor or vendors that offer programming they want to watch. Viewers can see significant savings over traditional TV subscription services — but it’s not exactly apples and oranges.
Streaming TV can be simpler and more economical than cable TV. In fact, 33 million Americans have “cut the cord” and switched to streaming, saving over an estimated $500 annually. Instead of paying for the dozens, even hundreds, of TV channels you may not ever watch, pay only for what you want to watch.
With 200+ streaming services to choose from, it can feel overwhelming to choose the right streaming service (or services) that are right for your household. But we can help! While Adams Fiber doesn’t offer streaming services ourselves (as there are already so many out there), we are here to help you navigate your options.
We’ll compare costs, install your streaming device(s), and set up streaming service in your home.
Call us at 217-214-3423 to get started!
Because streaming services come in through the internet, you’ll want to make sure you have the best speeds available. Adams Fiber recommends at least a 100 Mbps internet connection because no one likes spending time watching the little wheel spin while shows buffer. Most of our fiber internet speeds can handle streaming with ease. Our customer service representatives can help you determine if your Adams Fiber speed is compatible with streaming.
To stream TV, you’ll also need to purchase devices like Roku or an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation, TVs with streaming capabilities, or other products that support streaming services. The Roku and Fire TV Stick generally cost in the $30-$50 range, with the other devices selling at higher price points.
If you’re not sure what equipment would best suit your needs, give us a call at 217-214-3423 to get started! We’d be happy to talk you through your options. We’ll even help install your equipment and make sure you’re all set up.
While some streaming services offer major network stations, not all of them do—and some of them only offer one or two. The good news is that you can purchase an antennae to pick up those local stations. (Yes, they still make them!)
Many of these services offer a free trial period so you can try before you buy. If you find it’s not your cup of tea, simply cancel. The affordable price makes it easy to give it an “Ah, what the heck” shot as well.
Billing Questions
We bill a month in advance. This means the bill you receive on or before the 5th of the month covers the upcoming month’s services. For example, your July bill will be sent around June 5 and must be paid in full by June 26 to avoid late fees.
Your first Adams bill will be more than likely be higher than your following monthly bills. If your installation date doesn’t take place on the 1st of the month, your first bill will include the charges for the upcoming month as well as the prorated charges for the current month.
Additional charges: Your bill will also include the cost of any add-on services, like Arlo Security or home phone, if requested.
The prorated charge is a one-time charge for the period you’ve used your Adams internet service in the first month. The prorated period begins the day you started service and ends on the last day of the month. The prorated charge is included on your first bill along wiht the charges for the next month’s services.
All Adams Fiber internet plans require our Basic Managed Wi-Fi service, which includes ProtectIQ advanced security for added protection against online threats. To deliver your internet connection, we install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) at your location, which is essential for activating and managing your service. The Managed Wi-Fi charge covers the equipment and support needed to ensure a reliable and secure connection throughout your home.

Fiber Construction Process
No, we have been offering fiber to many of our communities in the area. Since 2000, we have provided fiber to the majority of our businesses in Quincy.
After enough interest in shown for a particular neighborhood, we will start the Pre-Registration phase to determine the level of commitment by a prospective Fiberhood.
During Pre-Registration, we will contact every potential home, to determine how many households are interested in our new fiber optic network and are serious about taking advantage of our services.
After we have reached our commitment requirements for a prospective fiberhood, we will begin construction on your fiber network!
Register your interest in bringing Adams Fiber to you neighborhood, by contacting us by calling 217-214-3423 or contacting us
It can feel like a lifetime when you are waiting for something you really want to experience, especially when you know someone else already has it and really enjoys it. We understand, and promise your fiber optic internet and telephone service will be worth the wait. Here’s a glimpse at why your patience is appreciated and necessary:
Building brand new networks take time
This means we’re laying new fiber in the ground or on utility poles. Consider how many miles of streets are in your city or just your neighborhood. In many of our Fiber communities, there are hundreds or even thousands of miles of fiber to be laid. That’s a lot of ground to cover, one foot of fiber at a time.
Before we invite you to sign up for Adams Fiber, we spend a lot of time developing a construction plan for your community and working with local authorities on permitting and other issues. Once a fiberhood qualifies for fiber service, there is more design, engineering and staking work to be done.
Underground investigations must be done
Before we can lay the fiber in the ground or bring in construction equipment such as boring machines, we have to figure out where the existing underground utilities are—wires, pipes, water lines, and so on. We follow the required process for marking the locations (“locates”) where each utility is supposed to be. This helps our construction crews when they are digging. You might see orange, blue, red, or yellow paint on sidewalks, streets, or even on your grass. Those are locating marks.
Private property access rights must be acquired
Our franchises, which are issued by a state or local government, give us the right to build our network in public rights-of-ways and easements in a particular jurisdiction. Where applicable, we have to separately secure the rights to construct on private property, such as in a multi-family apartment building, in a gated community, or across a private road.
Utility poles must be examined
Before we can pull fiber to utility poles and begin any aerial work, we determine if there’s space for our fiber on existing poles. Specific regulations and contractual obligations exist for placement of equipment on utility poles and may requirement coordination with third parties.
Even under the best of circumstances, some things can slow us down that are out of our control, such as:
- Weather and more weather. We still work outside when the weather doesn’t cooperate, but sometimes it is just impossible. Consider when you notice most road construction. You see more of that in spring and summer than in fall or winter. Usually, you won’t see road construction on snowy or rainy days. This pattern is similar for Fiber construction. Nearly everything stops or slows down in bad weather, including fiber network construction.
- There is just not enough daylight sometimes. Construction permits are usually only valid for certain days of the week and may limit times of the day crews can work. We might have enough crews to work longer days or over the weekends, but we must comply with the local restrictions.
- We have designed the fiberhood sign up and construction process to maximize efficiency. This means we stick to our sign up deadlines so that we can build in a particular fiberhood and then move on to work in another.
- We build out a city strategically, deploying resources where they can be put to work. Rather than having to go from street A to street B, we can build street K and then H and then Q, if that makes more sense, and then connect them as we get adjacent streets completed. This means we can bypass streets that may be temporarily inaccessible and come back to them later. That helps us keep moving forward, keeps our crews busy, and makes the whole process go as quickly as possible.
- We plan in advance and coordinate with the local authorities as much as possible, so we’re ready to start construction as soon as sign-ups close.
- When it’s time to connect to your home, we’ll email you so you can schedule your installation appointment online.
Occasionally one or two homes on a street don’t get installed until weeks or months after the rest of the street is installed. This can be confusing to residents, and your patience is always appreciated. There are a couple of reasons this might happen:
- Property access may be an issue. Sometimes we can’t get onto the property for some reason.
- Installation differences may occur. A few houses in a neighborhood can have underground cables while the rest of the houses in that neighborhood all have overhead cables. In that case, the houses with underground cables are usually installed later than the rest.
- Unforeseen circumstances can arise. We wish we could prepare for every unexpected obstacle, but sometimes there are unique conditions at a particular address that affect our ability to install Adams Fiber.
We are proud to offer No Gimmick Pricing. Plus, if you sign up during Pre-Registration, you have the unique opportunity to “lock in your price for life” on our residential Ultimate 1 Gigabit speed package.
The Monthly Price for Life with Adams is only available on our residential Ultimate 1 Gig speed package. Monthly Price for Life does not include or extend to fees, taxes, or surcharges.
Pre-Registration is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you. During Pre-Registration, we will contact every potential home in a prospective Fiberhood. This will determine how many households are interested in our new fiber optic network and are serious about taking advantage of our services.
